Frequently asked questions about Tap Tap
Do the colors get faster and faster in Follow mode?
Yes. The first three colors appear 2 s apart, then each new color shortens the gap by 0.02 s. The gap never goes below 0.5 s, which is reached at the 78th color. Each time the grid grows, the sequence starts over and the gap goes back to 2 s.
Can I fall behind the computer?
Yes, by up to 6 colors: you then tap them in order, at your own pace. As soon as 7 colors are waiting for you, the game ends. Tapping before the next color has appeared counts as a mistake.
How many colors do I have to remember in Memorize mode?
In the first round, 2 to 4 colors, drawn at random. Every three rounds, the sequence gets one more color: 3 to 5 in the fourth round. The sequence is drawn anew each round, and the same color never appears twice in a row.
How is the score calculated?
In Follow mode, each correct tap earns two and a half times the number of colors already shown, rounded down: 10 points when 4 colors have appeared. In Memorize mode, only a completed round earns points: the sequence length, the round number, ten and the grid size are multiplied together, then multiplied again by two and a half. A mistake doesn't take away any points; it ends the game.
When does the grid get bigger?
In Follow mode, it depends on your score: 2 × 3 (6 tiles) at 2,000 points, 3 × 4 (12 tiles) at 10,000, 4 × 4 (16 tiles) at 30,000. In Memorize mode, it depends on the round: the 6th, the 11th, then the 21st. Every game starts on the four-tile grid, and the colors change places each time the grid gets bigger.
Can you win a game?
No, there is no win: the game goes on until your first mistake, and the goal is to get as far as you can. Only Follow mode has a planned end, after 512 colors repeated on the same grid. In Memorize mode, there is no time limit for replaying the sequence.
What does the game over screen show?
The level reached: the length of the current sequence in Follow mode, the round number in Memorize mode. Milestones mark your progress, unlocked at levels 5, 10, 18, 28. The leaderboard keeps games of at least 500 points.
